At the heart of our CDF Freedom School summer program is a passionate and experienced team dedicated to nurturing, empowering, and inspiring the next generation of leaders.
Leading our program is a dedicated educator with over 25 years of experience in educational leadership, organization development, classroom management and teaching. A lifelong advocate for youth, she brings deep wisdom, compassion, and a commitment to helping every scholar grow into their best selves—academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our servant leader interns are dynamic, college-aged adults who are well-trained and ready to engage, uplift, and guide our scholars throughout the summer. Studying fields such as education, finance, mathematics, sociology, and sports management, they bring fresh perspectives, energy, and a sincere passion for working with youth. Together, they model leadership, support literacy development, and create a joyful learning environment rooted in excellence, equity, and love.

Hello all, my name is Xavier Smith and I am from Trenton, New Jersey. I attend Rider University pursuing a degree in History. I joined Freedom School because of my passion for education and my commitment to becoming a teacher after college. I strive to encourage and uplift the next generation, and Freedom School gave me the opportunity to do just that. Teaching here allows me to be a mentor to the youth, not just in the classroom, but in life. I want to inspire them to grow into bright, powerful leaders who are confident in their voice and ready to make a difference in the world.
