As a Read Aloud guest, you will play a vital role in inspiring our young scholars by sharing your passion for reading. During the program, you will have the opportunity to engage with the students for five minutes, reading a fun and exciting story that resonates with their age group. After your reading, you can share how education and literacy have shaped your journey, connecting with the students in meaningful ways. Our scholars always look forward to interacting with our guests, asking questions, and learning from their experiences.
The Read Aloud sessions are held during our daily morning assembly called “Harambee,” which means “all pull together” in Swahili. This uplifting gathering includes announcements, morning meditation, and reading of diverse and inspiring stories.
Books (to build home libraries for scholars), classroom supplies, paper goods, board games and sporting equipment are all welcomed.
This summer, our hands-on Agricultural STEM and Music Production and Technology programming, will have our students exploring food security, food justice, creative writing, music production and storytelling as a means of learning, leadership and career preparation. From cultivating indoor gardens to producing beats and writing songs, our scholars will develop real-world skills, all while improving their reading and writing.
